Mansur Gavriel Mini Bucket

Mansur Gavriel mini bucket bag in black-royal is one of recent bag acquisitions that I scored last month and honestly I did not expect that I would love it. When I placed an order, first I was not sure if I would like the bucket bag. It is an 'open' bucket bag where there is neither zipper nor proper bag closure (just the tassel). And second, Mansur Gavriel uses vegetable tanned leather and I know that this type of leather is prone to scratches. But my hesitation was finally gone when I received the bag for the first time.

Mine is a mini bucket bag, so the size is just right for my petite frame (I am 5'1). I knew from the beginning that I would never get the large/regular size because it will look huge on me. I like the fact that the strap can be adjusted with a smart mechanism that requires a very minimum use of hardware. The bag itself looks very minimal (just think about Celine handbags in Phoebe Philo era) and it lets the leather to stand out. So yes, the (designer) decision for not using excessive hardware on the bag is spot-on.

One thing (or two) that has attracted me to this bag is the leather and the leather. It is vegetable tanned leather with excellent finish. I like the one that is uncoated (which is way cheaper) that can easily get scratches from the normal wear. But I think these scratches are (so far) still in acceptable level and in fact they have given some characters to the bag (that the bag is loved and used). I have been using this bag for 1.5 months and few scratches are quite visible. The photos below were taken yesterday when I am drafting this blog post, so they could describe the recent condition of my bag.

From time to time, I still have a little concern over its 'open' top. Even when the tassel is tightened, there is always a substantial gap/opening on the bag compartment. Hence it has caused me to regularly check the bag contents just to make sure that my wallet and mobile phone and other stuffs are still inside the bag. To overcome my concern, sometimes I put a mini scarf inside of the bag to cover the contents. With this approach, I expect that anyone will have difficulty to see what's inside my bag and hopefully it can lower the risk for being picked pocket *fingers crossed*

I can conclude that this bag has won my heart. I like it so much that now I have placed another order for a mini bucket in black flamma. But as expected, the waiting time is around 3 months until it is ready for delivery *frowning*.

And while waiting for the bag delivery, now I start drafting my 2015 bag wishlist and am contemplating whether to get a Balenciaga metallic edge city or not (that bleu roi is so stunning). Hmmm, maybe I should put this topic in a separate blog post...

Recent beauty haul

Yesterday I bought a few skincare products from La Mer, i.e.:

  • The SPF 30
  • Treatment lotion
  • Lip balm

Except for the SPF 30, the other 2 products are new to me. They are my first bottle of Treatment Lotion and my first jar of lip balm, and I am looking forward to using them regularly. I am just excited for trying these (new-to-me) products. Yay!

Please check my previous La Mer haul here.

My new bag is coming

It's coming very soon.... Can't wait! I have pre-ordered this bag and it is on the way to my home. I will definitely share more photos once this black beauty arrives.

Inside my bag: Hermes Kelly

I recently took out my vintage Hermes Kelly as my weekend bag. This is my only vintage piece and I adore it very much. The bag is more than 20 years but it still looks very beautiful.

I hope that I can have a chance to acquire another vintage bag in a great condition. Maybe a small/medium vintage bag from Chanel would be a nice addition to my bag collection (it's in fact on my top wishlist) *fingers crossed*

Bag Acquisition - October 2014

I am really slowing down on bag acquisition this year. But I have splurged on shoes and accessories instead lol
Nowadays I bought bags that I really really like, i.e. brand, style, colour. If I could not get the right colour, then I would rather wait. Because I do believe that good things come to those who wait ;)

Tom Ford Rosie

Yay! I got a new sunglasses from Tom Ford two days ago. This is called Rosie and described as an oversized butterfly sunglasses.

After I bought Tom Ford lipsticks (check here) for the first time (and I immediately loved them!), I started to visit the Tom Ford website more often as I was working on my beauty wishlist. Then I started looking at the eyewear collection and I knew that the Tom Ford sunglasses would be on my top accessories wishlist. There are so many fantastic sunglasses offered by Tom Ford, but I finally choose Rosie because of its unique 'X' effect in the centre. Surprisingly Rosie is very lightweight and of course it is very stylish.

I still have another Tom Ford sunglasses on my (expanding) wishlist, named Carola (check here). I do hope that Carola can soon join my accessories family lol *wink*

Daily dose of cuteness

From my recent trip to Hong Kong, I made a stop at Laduree shop in order to buy the cute bag charm/key chain. And of course I would not leave the shop without getting a box of macarons. Until now, my favourite flavours of Laduree macarons are salted caramel and rose petal... nom nom

See the special Hong Kong box below. Isn't cute? It has the background of Hong Kong famous skyline.

My bags are on Purseblog

Recently my bag is being featured on Purseblog.com website, in its regular #PBWIMB post. Yay! I am super excited. Click here for the link.
The bag was Hermes Lindy in orange with some orange accessories in it (including a Bottega Veneta continental wallet in fire opal).

And this is in fact my second bag being featured on Purseblog.com. Around 3 months ago, my Proenza Schouler PS1 medium in midnight blue was also on Purseblog.com.

Check here for the link to Purseblog for my Proenza Schouler PS1.

Celine Trio Family

Without further ado, please meet my Celine Trio family. I can't believe that now I have 5 Trios already and I still want more lol (thinking of purple and hoping Ms Philo would release purple in the coming seasons).

The first Trio that I bought was the black one in 2012 (check here), followed by the red one in 2013 (check here) and the blue one was then added (check here). And this year I got saffron Trio from Spring collection (check here) and grass Trio from Summer collection (check here).

Trio has been my favourite bag for going out with the kids. It is roomy, very lightweight and the leather (made of lambskin) is surprisingly durable. Love it.

I am pretty sure that this small happy family will have a new addition in the near future *wink*

Gold armcandy

I just love this gold armcandy consisting of Celine Knot, Hermes Clic H and Tory Burch double wrap.
Definitely it will become one of my favourite bracelet stacks.

See my favourite stack in silver here

New armcandy: Balenciaga and Tory Burch

This month I did buy any new handbags, but I splurge on bracelets instead lol

So here are my new bracelets from Tory Burch and Balenciaga:
  • Tory Burch double wrap in gold leather with gold studs
  • Balenciaga edge cuff in black with pale-golden hardware
  • Balenciaga cuff in rose aubepine with gold giant hardware

Tom Ford Lipsticks

I have heard so much about Tom Ford lipsticks that so many ladies have given positive reviews for them.
I was therefore super curious with these highly appraised lipsticks and finally felt excited when I had the chance to visit Tom Ford beauty corner at Lane Crawford in Hong Kong. Definitely I was overwhelmed with the colour options for Tom Ford lipsticks (not to mention that I also like their beautiful eyeshadow palettes lol).

So at the end I decided to take home these 4 colours:
  • Casablanca
  • Crimson noir
  • Negligee
  • Flamingo

I have used two of them and so far I love the texture and colour. For sure I want more of Tom Ford beauty products. More lipsticks and eye shadow palettes are already in my wishlist *wink*
