I am now on instagram

About one month ago, I just set up an instagram account and I am now officially on instagram. Yay!
In the beginning I plan to post (at least) one photo per day, simply to share shallow obsession over bag (and sometimes shoes). And I think I succeeded in making regular instagram post. All photos are taken by me.

And fyi, because I am a shy girl, I would not post a photo on instagram with my face on it *wink*

End of season SALE is on!

Yes, year end is coming very soon and my favourite brands start to have their regular end of season sale events. Yay!

My new 'toy'

I have been a loyal Canon user in the past 3 years or since I learnt about photography. Before buying my first Canon DSLR camera, I knew nothing about photography. Even until now, I am still an amateur photographer where I never took any photography class. I learnt the skills through various means, but most importantly I have a best friend who is willing to share her photography tips to me.

My favourite part of photography is taking pictures of my kids. In fact, it was the main reason when I decided to buy my first DSLR camera.

However quietly I have been observing another friends who have moved on to Leica M series camera and regularly shared the amazing Leica-quality photos (through social media) and that has gradually inspired me. However I simply can not justify myself for buying a Leica M series camera. It is damn expensive and it is like entering an entirely new league. It is like to upgrade myself from economy class to a suite in Singapore Airlines A380 flights lol.

The desire to have a Leica camera was very high on me, so that I decided to get my first Leica camera, but not M series yet. Here I am happy to settle with Leica X2 which has the manual function just like any DSLR camera, but it is not equipped with interchangeable lens. And it only has a fixed 35mm lens hence has no ability to perform zooming in or out. Nevertheless, this issue does not affect me for actively using the camera in the past 2 weeks.

After using Leica X2, I think this camera is quite handy and relatively smaller than regular DSLR cameras (yet it is not as lightweight as digital compact camera). This camera will be useful when I have a short trip or when I am lazy to carry extra bag for DSLR camera and its many tools. Well, for me this camera is hassle free and still offers the flexibility to apply manual function just like DSLR cameras. So as a conclusion, I am pleased with this Leica X2.


Psssstt, now I am still dreaming that one day I can own a Leica M series, i.e. M240, although it would cost me and arm and leg (RRP $8,000) *sigh*

How to store Chanel flap bag

 

 

Those Chanel bags have cost me an arm and a leg. So it is a must that I take a good care of them especially when they are being stored inside the wardrobe.

Here I explain the process of how I normally do it.

1. Put an insert into the bag
The main objective is to ensure the bag will not loose its shape while it is not in use. In my case, the insert was simply made from tissue paper that we normally get whenever we buy a handbag. I make an adequate volume for the insert according to the bag size/shape and wrap them with the same paper. So the insert looks quite tidy and is easy for handling.

2. Keep the long chain inside the bag
Pull all the chain and carefully fold it inside the bag. Do not let the chain hanging loosely outside the bag. The heavy metal may damage the leather. If the Chanel flap bag is made from lambskin, it is suggested that the chain is wrapped in tissue paper since the lambskin is not as firm as caviar calfskin. The worst scenario that we want to avoid is that the leather has few dents due to metal pressure from the heavy chain.

 

 

3. Cover with felt fabric

The fabric is normally given whenever we buy the bag from boutique. If the felt fabric is not available, then in my opinion it is still ok for not doing this step. I would emphasize more on step 1 & 2 since they are more critical than this felt covering.

 



4. Put the bag inside its dustbag

5. Store inside the box
Whenever we buy the classic Chanel flap bags, it will normally come with a box.

 

6. If the original Chanel box is not available, then 'improvise'
Not all of my Chanel flap bags have the standard box from the boutique.
In my case then I use a (used) box from dry cleaner which happens to have the appropriate size for keeping the Chanel flap bag. Or I also would not mind to buy a nice and sturdy box to protect the bag.

7. Lastly, store the bag in standing position
Simply never let the bag stored flat inside the wardrobe.

I understand that some women would store their classic flap bags in a more meticulous way. But I have my own method that I find it quite practical and proven to be effective.

Now I can simply wish and pray that one day I can add my Chanel flap bag collection. A medium-sized classic flap bag is very much welcome for the new addition as it has been on my top wishlist for ages. *fingers crossed*

End of Season SALE is on!

A few days ago I received several notification letters for the event of 'end of season sale' :)
I can't believe that time flies so fast that we are now (almost) in the middle of the year and the Fall Winter collection will soon be available in stores ;)

Recent haul: Webe tote bags

WEBE braided bags have become one of the most highly sought-after bags in the past one year. We can not simply buy the bags over the counter (I am not sure if Webe has an official store), yet we have to pre-order it (through resellers) with minimum waiting time of 6 months. It is locally made with superior craftsmanship. The bag is made from a stretchy thick polyester fabric and the braided finish is handwoven by local artisans.

The brand offers several bag styles, but I think this one is the most popular one: Maribel. My recent hauls are all Maribel in Large size and note that the large one can only be handcarried. I wish that I can collect a few more colours as these unique bags are great for casual outing. Yet my level of patience is relatively low, so another 6-month waiting period may not be tolerable for me.

By the way, these are actually my second and third Webe bags. Check this post when I revealed my first Maribel in dark blue.

Shoebox Project

I have been doing this special project since December 2012. The name 'Shoebox' is quite self explanatory for describing on what the project is all about.

The background of the project should be well understood for any shoes lover. To begin with, I always keep my shoes inside their boxes for the reason of cleanliness (to keep the dust away). It is a standard operating procedure (SOP) at my house and can not be bargained for lol. But sometimes I had difficulty to locate or to find the pair that I wish to wear. I often opened up to 5-6 shoe boxes before I got the shoes that I was looking for. Hence I set up the main objective for this special project for attaching the respective shoes photo on every shoebox.

The process was very time consuming that it took me 1.5 months to finish it. First I must take the shoebox out from the shoes cabinet and take out the shoes one by one from each shoebox. I have set up a mini studio at the corner of my living room and photoshoot session took place only when the kids were not around. Else I got continuous disturbance from them lol

Taking the photos was only the beginning of the process and relatively easy. Then it was followed by the prolonged process of selection, editing and printing the photos. The final process was to take the shoebox out of the shoes cabinet (again) and to attach/glue the shoes photo on every single shoebox.

I am quite satisfied with the result of this special project that I have started to do similar project for (some of) my bag collection. It is called 'bagbox' project. I will make a special post on this project when it is completed :)

2 years of bag blogging

 

 

January is the anniversary month for my bag blog. It has been 2 years of blogging now and I intend to continue doing it although I found greater challenges to make a regular blog post. The reason is that I am getting busier with my work and my toddlers demand my undivided attention at home. So my spare time at home is mostly with the kids, accompanying them for studying and playing. Quite often when I played around with my camera to take some bag pictures or was busy in front of the computer, the kids came around and disturbed the session lol. Of course I had difficulty to ignore them after looking at their innocent and eager faces wanting to play with me. I then immediately abandoned the photo session and joined the playtime lol.

My initial intention to set up this blog was very simple. I just want to have 'a diary' or 'a record' or 'a summary' for the bags that I currently have, bags that have been actively used and bags on the wishlist. And the content of this blog pretty much have stayed the same in the past 2 years, although I have added irregular posts in regards to beauty haul, flat shoes addiction, food and travel. These are basically my other favourite topics.

And after undergoing several years of severe bag addiction lol (to illustrate, I had a period for being a Balenciaga addict where my Balenciaga bags were around 15-17 bags), I can say that I am now focusing on keeping the designers/brands that I love and my current bag collection is actually my favourite items that I use regularly. So, I do not expect my bag collection will grow significantly this year. But, we'll see what happens in the next 11 months *wink*

Lyon: The best Saturday Brunch in town

Lyon is a French Restaurant located at Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The place is one of our favourite dining venue when we feel like eating authentic French cuisines. And a fine dining experience will be guaranteed. (Note: we also like Cassis that serves authentic and excellent French cuisine and has 'posh' dining interior).

I and my DH have visited Lyon many times, including for a special event when the restaurant invited a Michelin-starred chef and we had the opportunity to taste his 7-course degustation menu. It was a wonderful experience.

Yet my post here is to share my recent visit to Lyon in late October 2012 to enjoy their famous Saturday Brunch. It was our first time visit to Lyon for a weekend brunch after hearing so many comments about how excellent Lyon's Saturday Brunch menu is.

The brunch was a semi buffet dining. They still provided a long buffet table that served appetizers and some light desserts (cakes and chocolate fondue). But the main dishes were available for us to choose from their quite extensive menu (hence semi-buffet). And they will cook the meal only upon our order! It means that all the dishes served to our table were freshly prepared (like in a la carte dining). And I had to emphasize that it was an 'all you can eat' dining. Yup, we can order as many as we wish for from their menu. Splendid it was! Each of us ordered at least 4-5 different dishes for our main course and 2 dishes for desserts (I ordered the classic creme brule and mille feuille). And before that we also tried their appetizers (including French onion soup) and sampled the vast selection of cheese (they had a special 'cheese room' where we could select our favourite cheese as dining companion or snack).

If I have to choose 2 most favourite main course menu, then it will be the grilled lamb and sea scallop/foie grass.

We really had a fabulous time and spent almost 3hour (arrived 11.30 and left 14.20) for enjoying and sampling the scrumptious cuisine. The atmosphere and service were both so great that we did not feel like spending almost 3hour dining. And it was a full house for Lyon meaning that all tables were fully occupied by guests.

We left the restaurant feeling satisfied, happy and full! Mission accomplished :p

And my bag at that day was Celine Phantom in black croc stamped. Definitely I am still in love with the bag. The bag could stand out nicely and it complimented my casual outfit during that day (sorry, no modelling pic as I simply concentrated too much on my delicious meal)
