My new found love: Celine Edge Medium

I never thought that I was instantly smitten by this bag. Having seen the bag from Celine's website only made me more curious than ever. I was glad that I had the chance to see the bag in real life and it was an instant love!

The leather is simply amazing. It is thick enough and it has small/very faint grain (which sometimes it reminds me of Hermes' togo leather). The bag is so easy to wear. The zip can be easily open while the bag is still on my shoulder (the long leather tab attached to zipper pull is a great help to open the zipper). And the small back pocket is very very useful to keep my mobile phone or parking ticket. While the bag is worn over the shoulder, it doesnt loose shape shape (thanks to its thick leather) and it doesn't feel boxy at all!

This may look like a simple bag but in my opinion the bag was carefully designed so that it has smart and luxurious details that makes me constantly amazed. This Edge bag is totally a great refresher after the ubiquitous mini luggage and trapeze. So for sure it is a keeper for me ;) I can't wait to see what colours that Phoebe Philo will offer in Fall 2013 collection.

The transformation of YSL Chyc Cabas

I am still weeping over the change of YSL into SLP *hiks* I simply missed its 'Y' logo which has made YSL so unique among other high end brands.

One of the YSL handbags that I constantly covet is the iconic Chyc Cabas (other than the Easy bag). I have one Chyc Cabas in green that I can repeatedly appraise for the overall design and quality of craftsmanship. And I do still keep a wishlist for the Small Chyc Cabas (that comes with longstrap) and hope to own one next year *fingers crossed*. But when I recently browsed around the YSL website I noticed that there has been major changes on Chyc Cabas look. I was very surprised! Well, obviously the changes must be commissioned by Mr. Hedi Slimane, the new YSL creative director.

The obvious changes that will be easily noticed are the (new) clochette, (thicker and square-ish) hardware for handles and zipper pull and (the missing) accent panels that create a "Y" outline (see above photos for bags on the right). One thing that remains is the big and bold Y hardware logo *Thanks God*

And before the latest Chyc Cabas look, there is a Chyc Cabas in transition that still incorporates the old design (i.e. the accent panels that create 'Y' outline) yet has applied new and sleeker hardware design. See the bag in the middle on above photos.

If I have to choose only one Chyc Cabas, then it must be the Chyc Cabas in transition. What I like the most about this 'bag in the middle' is that it has applied new hardware, especially on the handles and zipper pull, yet the old YSL feels is still there. Though I still can accept and adore the first generation of Chyc Cabas which will soon become extinct *hello Santa, please visit my bag blog and read my wishlist!*

The description of the new Chyc petite Cabas in YSL website is as follows

Tubular top handle bag with external leather pouch with enclosed key ring.
  • Calfskin with leather lining
  • Removable shoulder strap
  • 2 slot pockets
  • Double zip closure, gold-toned "Y" buckle and metal protective feet
  • Style ID: 311210 BJ50J 1000
  • Dimensions: 12" x 8.5" x 6", Drop 4"
  • Made in Italy

One last thing that I have to note down is the major price transformation. Before Mr. Slimane came, the small chyc cabas was priced usd1850, yet now the sleeker and more minimalist small chyc cabas (or now called Chyc petite Cabas) would cost us usd2350 *oouch*

My obsession is still going strong

The saga (er, the obsession) is not over yet!
Now I am drooling over this gorgeous poppy red mini YSL Chyc Cabas. The combination of red leather and gold hardware is simply to-die-for.

The bag screams 'CHIC' loudly. Definitely I will put this on my (bag) wishlist!

Current obsession: YSL Medium Chyc Cabas

Beige - Black - Peacock blue - Dark brown
(USD1950)

Dark green - Dark magenta - Saffron - Skye blue
(USD1950)

Degrade lizard embossed
Beige - Pacific blue
(EUR1650)

Textured leather
Dark magenta - Light pink - Pale beige
(USD2195)

I am officially obsessed over YSL Chyc Cabas. I can not stop thinking the next purchase (what size and colour) lol

I have owned one in medium size dark green Chyc Cabas (check here). And after using (and abusing) the bag for awhile, I am happy with the bag as it is beautiful, practical, has great details and exquisite leather and it is not as common as other big names (with logos).

Hence I made this post for sharing other colours from its FW 2012 collection. For sure I am dreaming for the one in pacific blue degrade lizard embossed. I have seen one in local YSL store and it looks very luxurious and gorgeous. Other than that, I am also eyeing one in peacock blue, which has a nice bright coblat blue.

Depending on the type of leather and finish, the price is ranging from USD1950 to USD2195. And I am satisfied for knowing that the bag is still 'Made in Italy' :D

Current obsession: YSL Mini Chyc Cabas

:: Black ::

 :: Dark brown ::

 :: Light seppia ::

 :: Dark green ::

:: Beige ::

:: Skye blue ::

I went to YSL store last week and tried the bag. It was an instant love! The strap is at great length (I think I can wear the bag in cross body style if the strap is at maximum lengtht). The size is just right for my petite frame and the leather is to-die-for. Overall design is excellent!

The website describes the bag as follows

Continuing in the iconic Yves Saint Laurent fashion of functional and chic, this versatile YSL bag is a modern take on the iconic tote. Supple construction. Ultra-soft leather with natural grain outer. Comfortable tubular handles. Removable, three-hole, adjustable shoulder strap. Gold-toned metal rings. A double zip and leather flap with gold-toned "Y" buckle. Accent panels create a subtle "Y" outline. Interior details: 1 zip pocket and 2 open pockets. Metal protective feet on underside. Cotton lining.
  • Made in Italy
  • Dimensions: 12" x 8" x 6", Drop 4.5"
  • Style ID: 297957 BUB0G 3458
Price USD 1,795

If I have to choose one (or two), then I will go for black or light seppia.

Yet I am still having a difficult time to decide whether to get this bag or not.
At the same time, I am also considering the medium chyc cabas *sigh*
Decision, decision, decision.....

Today's shallow obsession: Diamond

Diamond Tennis Bracelet 5ct (or min 0.1ct each) in 4 prong setting

Diamond Solitaire Ring 1ct in 6 prong setting

It is said that diamond is a girl's best friend. And I find it so true!
Silently or passively I am a diamond lover. But too bad that my other obsession has conquered me in the past 4 years that has made me a bag fetish lol

I intentionally made this post on my current (shallow) obsession as a reminder that I 'might' be on a bag ban in the next few months. I guess I can be considered as happy or satisfied with my current bag collection. They are not as many as they were before, yet now I only keep those classic bag styles, brands and colours that I like very much.

My diamond wishlist consist of tennis bracelet and 1ct solitaire ring, preferably in F-G colour, VVS and round shape. They are meant to be for my daily wear so I am aiming something classic and timeless....

Wish me luck....

Celine Audrey sunglasses

I made a previous post in here when I shared my obsession about Celine's Audrey sunglasses. Well, the wait or curiousity is over as I just acquired a small Audrey in black. Yay!! (the reveal was actually posted in here and here)
The shape is very classic and versatile and to my surprise it is comfortable enough when I wore it. I opted the small size but I am still thinking the large size. The small size will look chic when I am out and about in the city while the large Audrey will be great for going to the beach.

Bottom line, I do love my new Celine Audrey and hopefully one day I can get the large size (when a beach holiday is on the plan).

Current obsession: Audrey

I am a big fans of Ms. Audrey Hepburn. She's my diva for classic vintage style. Her look and outfit at Breakfast at Tiffany is always forever classic and has been the source of inspiration for many many fashion lover!! In that movie she wore an iconic sunglasses from Ray Ban named "Wayfarer", and since then many people raved about this classic style of sunglasses.

But now I have current obsession over the Audrey from Celine. Thanks to Ms Phoebe Philo who reinterpreted Ms. Hepburn's style, she created a Celine sunglasses and named after the famous actress.
Yes, the name of Celine's sunglasses is Audrey and it has 2 sizes: small and large.

Miranda Kerr has been frequently seen wearing this sunglasses. And it truly inspires me. It makes me want one!!! Now I am obsessed over Audrey yet I still could not decide the size that I should go for: small vs. large.

Today my SA at local Celine store sent me some photos of Audrey. They all look classic and fabulous. I am having a hard time to choose one. And after seeing this photo, I really want to make a stop at the Celine store this week (as well as a stop at Givenchy store)

Hmmm, the one in black looks very promising for me. Can't wait to visit the Celine store...

Dilemma #1: I really want Gris Poivre, but I already have a bag in similar colour

Images are from Balenciaga.com

I am seriously thinking to get a Balenciaga Giant Velo Silver Hamilton in Gris Poivre. The colour is very versatile and I have read few positive comments about mini giant hardware and Hamilton leather which made me want this bag even more! It was told that Velo in mini giant hardware is quite lightweight (compared to that of giant hardware) and the Hamilton leather (goatskin) is thicker than regular agneau leather. This is such great news for me. Hence I am so eager to own a bag from Balenciaga Holiday collection.

The thing is that I have already had a bag which has similar colour and the style is also look alike (i.e. long strap and short handle). It is my Hermes Kelly 35 in etoupe. This fact made me unsure whether I should get a Gris Poivre Velo or not. I do not fancy other colours in current Balenciaga Holiday collection so there is no plan B for me, like getting the bag in alternative colour ('maybe' Bordeaux is ok, but I still prefer GP).

My argument to get another bag in a similar 'taupe-ish' colour is very simple. If a lady can never have enough of 'black' handbags, so there is nothing wrong if someone owns more than one bag in versatile/neutral colour like 'taupe/etoupe/gris poivre' *grin*

Well, who knows, that oneday I may become a lady who can never have enough of taupe handbags lol
